We are Green
Love Linent

Swiss makes every effort to deliver the best quality and so this page of our website is devoted to Love Linen as we believe that 5% of hotel linen is unnecessarily damaged every week.

Our ambition with launching this campaign is to improve the understanding and care that is given to textiles and hotel linen by all who; live, sleep, laugh, love, eat, lounge, bounce, roll, carry, and work with it.

The challenge that we have is that we hire out our linen and then restore it to great condition through the wash and pressing process. Unfortunately certain types of handling cause marks and damage to the linen that we can’t restore. This, when avoidable, creates cost and waste that none of us in the hospitality industry can afford.

Where can we avoid damage?

At the laundry?

  • We have our part to play; are we providing enough hamper bags?
  • We avoid, nips & tucks, corners and edges?

In hotel housekeeping?

  • Are you keeping dirty laundry in hamper bags or lined cages?
  • Is the dirty stored safely away from external elements (and theft)?
  • Are you mixing damp with dry? – mildew is permanent
  • How are you moving stock around and between the rooms? Trolleys are better for the back too.
  • Life is full of mishaps, but let’s not spread the misery. Keep red dissolvable bags ready to segregate heavy soiling from the rest of the linen

In hotel rooms?

  • Towels get pierced on sharp hooks when hung up
  • Do you have sufficient hanging rails in the bathrooms?
  • Don’t clean mirrors and Loos with our towels, use rags
  • Bleach kills everything including cotton
  • Have you provided shoe cleaning facilities so customers don’t find their own?

In storage linen cupboards?

  • Sunlight damages stock and causes staining, make sure you regularly rotate the stock on the shelves
  • Are there any sharp edges in the linen room?
  • Do you have enough space to work?
  • Are you keeping the linen off the floor when counting?

During transport

  • Don’t drag linen, wheel it! It’s so much easier
  • Are we providing enough bags and cages?
  • Stuffing duvets and pillowcases with linen causes tearing

In the kitchen

  • Use cleaning rags for cleaning and napkins for laps
  • Spills happen, but paper is disposable and ideal for cleaning up mess
